Gerald La Vern Grett was born Dec. 29, 1919 to Calvin L. and Kathleen Grett. He died Aug. 16, 1943 is buried in Memphis National Cemetery, Memphis, TN and has a cenotaph in Union Cemetery, Guthrie Center, IA.
Sgt. Grett served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 67th Bomb Squadron, 44th Bomb Group and was KIA and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster.
