Pvt. Dean LeRoy Goodrich

 

 

 

Dean LeRoy Goodrich was born Aug. 5, 1923 to LeRoy and Jessie M. Richardson Goodrich. He died Jan. 16, 1994 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Pvt. Goodrich served with the U.S. Army in World War II with the 133rd Division Infantry in the European Theatre.

His Obituary:

Dean Goodrich, 70, Webster City died Jan. 16, 1994 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Smith officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 191. Foster Funeral Home in in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Dean LeRoy Goodrich, son of LeRoy and Jessie (Richardson) Goodrich, was born Aug. 5, 1923 in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School. During World War II, he served with the U. S. Army in the 133rd Division Infantry in the European Theatre.

On April 12, 1947, he married Helen Cristina Elliott in Des Moines. The couple resided in Webster City. He was employed by the city of Webster City for 42 years, working in various departments. His wife died in November of 1963. He retired in 1988 and continued to reside in Webster City.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Shirley Goodrich Jr. of Webster City; step-daughter, Verla Doughty of Iowa Falls; grandsons, Dean LeRoy Goodrich III and Frank Edward Goodrich, sister, Luella Gordon of Webster City, two nephews and one niece. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
