Madison Eugene Gillaspey was born Nov. 23, 1923 to Espey Clarence and Genevieve Ora Deere Gillaspey. He died Feb. 21, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.
Lt. Gillaspey served in World War II with the 26th Photographic Squadron, 6th Reconnaissance Group and was MIA/FOD/KIA in the Philippine Islands and awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
