Fred Edward and Daisy Marie Sweazey Gatewood had three sons serving with the U.S. Army in World War II:

Fred Edward Gatewood, Jr. was born Sept. 26, 1924. He died Oct. 5, 1971.

Pvt. Gatewood is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Donald William Gatewood was born Oct. 12, 1927. He died Feb. 1, 1985.

Pvt. Gatewood is buried in Cedar Memorial Park, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Donald W. Gatewood

Memorial services for Donald W. Gatewood, 57, of Cedar Rapids, a former Webster City resident, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at the Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids with burial at the Cedar Memorial Park.

Mr. Gatewood died Friday at St. Luke’s hospital there, following a brief illness.

He was born and reared in Webster City, but had resided in Cedar Rapids for 32 years. He was married to Betty L. Richards on May 9, 1948 in Webster City.

He was employed at Wilson and Company for 31 years before retiring in 1982. He was a veteran of World War II and had served with the U.S. Army Infantry.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Rocky E. Gatewood and Darrel D. Gatewood, both of Cedar Rapids, one daughter, Pamela S. Sillick of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Robert Gatewood and Delbert Gatewood, both of Webster City, four sisters, Evelyn Wagner, Beverly Berleen and Gloria Young, all of Webster City, and Connie Hilpipre of St. Louis, and one grandson.

Charles Alva Gatewood was born Sept. 10, 1920. He died Oct. 16, 1965.

Sgt. Gatewood is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
