Pvt. Arnold Gangestad

Ringsted, Iowa- Private Arnold Gangestad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gangestad has been wounded in action in North Africa. Gangestad was wounded April 8. The wound was caused by shrapnel. He dictated a letter through the unit Chaplin in which he stated that at that time he was unable to use his right arm to write. Gangestad said he had lost a pocket testament which his aunt, Mrs. Myrtle Whitcomb, gave him, but that the Chaplain has supplied him with one.

Arnold Henry Gangestad was born June 5, 1914 to Henry Simon and Carrie Belle Goldsberry Gangestad. He died Nov. 26, 2010 and is buried in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.

Pvt. Gangestad served with the U.S. Army in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.
