Sibley, Iowa:
News reached Sibley of the death of Pvt. Ronald Pepper, 20, former Sibley truck driver. Pepper was inducted from Sibley October 1, 1942, at the same time William Frick from Sibley entered the service. The two men took their basic training together at Camp Roberts, Cal., and left for overseas April 1, 1943, Pvt. Pepper was killed in action while fighting with the field artillery in France. His parents, who formerly lived at Alta, now reside in California. Pvt. William Frick, former deputy auditor of Osceola County, has been wounded and has been awarded the Purple Heart.

William Frick was born July 24, 1906 to Sanno and Anna Johnson Frick. He died July 14, 1980 and is buried in Holman Cemetery, Sibley, IA.
