Raymond Glenn Fostberg was born Feb. 4, 1922 to Carl Hjamar and Marie Elizabeth Anderson Fostberg. He died Apr. 16, 1996 and is buried in South Marion Cemetery, Stratford, IA.
Sgt. Fostberg served with the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theater with the 94th Infantry Division as a member of the Headquarters Company where he was a radio operator. He was awarded 4 campaign stars and the Bronze Star. He was awarded the Bronze Star personally by Gen. George S. Patton for meritorious service.

Raymond G. Fostberg was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Stratford. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1939. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater with the 94th Infantry Division as a member of the Headquarters Company where he was a radio operator. He won four campaign stars and was awarded the Bronze Star personally by Gen. George S. Patton for meritious service. Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to Stratford where he operated a TV and radio business until 1967. He was employed as a janitor by the Stratford School District until 1975 when he opened his own business, Ray's Home and Garden Store in Stratford, which he owned and operated. He entered the Stratford Care Center in April 1996. He was a member of the American Legion Frederick Sonksen Post 576 of Stratford for a number of years.
