Birch Chester Fleming

 

 

Walter William Fleming was the father of 6 sons serving in World War II. Walter and his first wife, Emma Robertson were the parents of Everett Isaac Fleming and Birch Chester Fleming who both served in the Navy during World War II. 

After the death of Emma, Mr. Fleming married Bertie Weatherman and they had 4 sons who served in World War II. Eugene Hollie Fleming was in the Navy and Lester Walter Fleming in the Naval Air Corps. Howard Jerry Fleming served in the Army and Donald Raymon Fleming was in the Army Air Corps.

Birch Chester Fleming was born Sept. 9, 1916 to Walter W. and Biratha M. Weatherman Fleming. He died July 15, 2009 and is buried in Stavanger Cemetery, Hardin County, IA.

Birch served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Honolulu (CL-48), USS Nassau (CVE-16), USS Henrico (APA-45) and at NAS Pearl Harbor, Patrol Squadron 23.
