Howard James Fear was born May 5, 1910 to Arthur G. and Alma E. Kersey Fear. He died Feb. 4, 1989 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery, Williams, IA.

Petty Officer Fear served with the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Elokomin (AO-55).

Howard (Dolf) Fear, 78, Williams, died Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Los Alamitos Medical Center in Los Alamitos, Calif. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Williams. Visitation at Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams is from 6-9 p.m. today, and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday.

Howard Fear, son of Arthur and Alma Kersey Fear, was born May 5, 1910, in Williams. He married Beulah Fierce on May 18, 1941 in Webster City. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. He owned and operated the H.J. Hardware and Implement Store in Williams from 1944 until September 1973.

He is survived by his wife Beulah, nephew Dennis Fear, Midland, Mich., and niece Betty Callis, Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Ralph and Francis.

Mr. Fear was a member of the United Methodist Church in Williams, American Legion Post 633, and the Williams Lions Club.
