Francis Arthur Fear was born Dec. 18, 1917 to Arthur G. and Alma E. Kersey Fear. He died Apr. 1979 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery, Williams, IA.

Francis served with the U.S. Army in World War II with the 834th, 977th and 985th Signal Service companies.

WILLIAMS — Funeral services for Francis A. Fear, 61, longtime Williams resident, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist church in Williams with the Rev. Ross Winner officiating Burial will be in the Williams cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Surls-Grupe Funeral chapel in Williams until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when it will be moved to the church.

Mr. Fear died Monday morning at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames following a short illness.

Francis Arthur Fear was born Dec. 18, 1917 at Williams, the son of Arthur and Alma Kearsey Fear, and he attended schools at Williams.

He served as clerk at the Williams post office and later was employed at the O.K. Hardware store in Williams and Webster City.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, spending 41 months in the European Theatre. He was an active member of the Williams American Legion Post 633. He was a post adjutant at the time of his death.

He is survived by one brother, Howard Fear of Williams; one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph.
