Jerold Luverne Fardal was born Aug. 1, 1915 to Elmer G. and Mattie A. Nelson Fardal. He died Oct. 7, 2016 in Lenexa, KS.
Pvt. Fardal served with the U.S. Army in World War II in the Asian Theatre.

Jerold Luverne Fardal died October 7, 2016. He was born in Stanhope, Iowa August 1, 1915, the son of Elmer and Martha (Nelson) Fardal. His wife, Helen (Frank), died in 2012. He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Richard Frohardt of Lenexa, Kansas, and Ruth and Pat Muldoon of Gladstone, Missouri. Jerry leaves behind three grandchildren—Mark (Shelly) Frohardt, Amy (Michael) Zegers, and Sarah (Michael) Patte—and nine great grandchildren; Megan, Kate, David, and Olivia Frohardt; Abigail and Blaise Zegers, Harrison, Oliver, and Lily Patte.
Jerry graduated from the University of Iowa. (always a Hawkeye). He married Helen in 1941. He was drafted and served in the Asian theatre in World War II. After returning from the War, and becoming a Certified Public Accountant, he began working for the Internal Revenue Service in Waterloo, Iowa, later moving to Omaha, Nebraska where he lived until moving to Overland Park, Kansas in 2006 to be closer to his daughters.
After Jerry retired, he worked for an accounting firm in Omaha. His volunteer activities were huge. He read to disadvantaged children, helped in the SCORE organization, served on numerous boards at Church, packed foods at Harvesters, and helped many friends with their tax returns. He and Helen loved to travel throughout this country and Europe. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held November 5 at Kaw Prairie Community Church, 9421 Meadow View Dr, Lenexa, KS at 11am. Memorials to Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W 75th St, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
