Holstein, Iowa – Lieut. Robert W. Fairchild, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert K. Fairchild, Holstein, is congratulated by his wife upon winning his silver navigator’s wings after completion of an 18-week course which has trained him to guide Uncle Sam’s bombers to and from axis objectives. Lieut. Fairchild won his wings and received his second lieutenant’s commission at the army air force navigation school, Hondo army airfield, Hondo, Texas.

Robert Weber Fairchild was born Nov. 16, 1916 to Bert Kenneth and Alma Barbara Weber Fairchild. He died June 19, 1998 and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Manteno, IL.
