Storm Lake, Iowa—Don Elk, former Storm Lake high school athletic star and a freshman basketball numeral winner the last season at Iowa State College, has received a call to report July 11 at Jefferson barracks, Missouri, to begin training in the army air corps. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Elk of Storm Lake. His father served overseas in the last war.

Donald Wayne Elk was born Oct. 4, 1924 to Clarence C. and Mildred Whealen Elk. He died Mar. 18, 2008 and is buried in Storm Lake Cemetery, Storm Lake, IA.
Lt. Col. Elk served in world War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
