TEACHER SHOCKED BY NEWS HUSBAND AMONG 'MISSING'
Mrs. Elnor Detlefsen, formerly Miss Van Note, science teacher in the Algona high school, received a war department message Tuesday afternoon announcing that her husband, in the air force overseas, had been missing in action since Wednesday, Nov. 8. Shocked and grief-stricken, she left that evening for her home at Ames.
Mrs Detlefsen's husband was a lieutenant in the air forces in England and was pilot of a P-51.
The lieutenant had almost finished his 250 hours in combat flying and had been expected home for Christmas.

Heinz Wilhelm Detlefsen was born July 11, 1919 to Hans Wilhelm and Therese G. Thede Detlefsen. He died Nov. 8, 1944 and is buried in Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Netherlands and has a cenotaph in Manning Cemetery, Manning, IA.
Lt. Detlefsen served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was MIA/KIA at Osnabruck, Germany.
