Gerald De Weerd, SN 37861765, was born on May 25, 1927 at Rock Valley, and was living at Sioux Center when he was inducted into the Army on Aug. 9, 1945 at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Mo. He served with Co. A. 787th M.P. SV BN, left for overseas service on Feb. 10, 1946 and returned on March 4, 1947. He was honorably discharged on July 8, 1947. His application for bonus pay was filed on May 20, 1949, for which he received $179.50.
