Kenneth and Neal De Pree drove to St. Louis, Mo. Monday evening to get Mr. and Mrs. Byron De Pree. Mrs. De Pree remained here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Roggen. Byron returned to St. Louis on Wednesday afternoon and then to the Great Lakes Naval Station where he will be in training.

Seine Byron De Pree, 24, husband of Mrs. Margaret J. De Pree, Box 65, Maurice, Iowa, has been selected to sing in the Great Lakes choir during his period of recruit training at the U. S. Naval Training Station at the Great Lakes.
As a member of the choir company, the new Bluejacket will sing at special camp “happy hours”, Sunday morning church services, on the weekly Friday night coast-to-coast broadcast of “Meet Your Navy” and any other program requiring special singing.
Upon completing recruit training he will be granted a nine-day “boot” leave.

Leon Roggen and Mrs. Byron De Pree left Monday for Holland, Mich. where Leon will return to College and Mrs. De Pree will visit with her sisters, Mrs. Art McGilvra and Mrs. Earl Tellman. Mrs. De Pree will also go to visit her husband who is stationed in Camp Green Bay at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station.

Byron De Pree from the Great Lakes Naval Training Station and Mrs. Byron De Pree who has been staying with her sisters, Mrs. Art McGilvra and Mrs. Earl Tillman of Holland, Mich., came Friday to spend a few days in the Rev. A Fellowship meeting was held in the First Ref. Church Monday evening with Rev. Harsevort of Ireton as leader and So. M 2/C Byron De Pree as guest speaker. The latter arrived Wednesday with his wife, the former Margaret Roggen, for a two week’s visit with their parents here. Byron is Sound Instructor in the Fleet Sound school at Key West, Fla.

He served with: USNTS, Great Lakes, Illinois; Flt. Sound Sch., Key West, Florida; Com Flt. Sound Sch. Ron (USS Dahlgren); Flt. Sonar Sch. Ron (USS Huron); USN TADCEN, Shoemaker, Calif. and was honorably discharged on Nov. 9, 1945. His application for bonus pay was filed June 23, 1949, for which he received
$370.00 in bonus pay.
