James Dennis Crosby

 

 

James Dennis Crosby was born Dec. 14, 1925 to Ernest Melville and Bernice Dove Genung Crosby. He died Nov. 22, 1997 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Pvt. Crosby served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II as an airplane and engine mechanic.

James Crosby, 71, Webster City

James Crosby, 71, Webster City, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery, with Rev. Gerald Caquelin officiating. There will be no visitation. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 191.

Dennis Crosby, son of Ernest and Bernice (Genung) Crosby, was born Dec. 14, 1925 on a farm in Freedom Township. He attended Webster City schools, graduating in 1943. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army as an airplane and engine mechanic. Following his discharge, he returned to Webster City where he was employed at Parkhurst Hardware. Later he moved to California where he worked at the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk. In 1985, he retired because of failing health. He returned to Webster City in 1987.

He is survived by a brother, Harold Crosby, Brea, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Max Crosby.
