Russell Lowell Cobbs was born Nov. 1, 1916 to Phillip H. and Virginia Gretchen Harris Cobbs. He died Mar. 3, 1945 and is buried in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton, IA.
Lt. Cobbs served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps Squadron S, 329th Base Unit and died of injuries received in an airplane accident near Winfield, LA.
