Stanley James Christenson was born Apr. 8, 1924 to Jens C. and Sylvia Lucille Bentson Christensen. He died Feb. 18, 1966 an is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell, IA.

Cpl. Christenson served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II with the 389th Bomb Group, 567th Bomb Squadron, 561st Base Unit.

Christenson Rites Monday

JEWELL — Stanley James Christensen, 41, a resident of Buffalo Center but formerly of Jewell, died Friday morning at the Veterans’ Hospital in Des Moines where he had been a resident for one week.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran church in Jewell with Rev. Norbert Jolivette officiating and with burial in Evergreen cemetery at Jewell. The body will lie in state at the Becker Funeral home until 1 p.m. when it will be taken to the church.

He was born April 8, 1925, at Jewell, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Christensen. Mr. Christensen was a linotype operator at Jewell before moving to Guthrie Center and later to Buffalo Center.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Bethesda Lutheran church. He was also a member of the VFW and the Hawkeye American Legion post at Jewell.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sylvia Christensen of Jewell; four sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Teig of Jewell, Mary Ann Martin of Garwin, Iowa, Carroll Carstonn of Indianola and Janet Frietle, Des Moines; 12 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Christensen was engaged to Miss Marilyn Nunnmaker of Emmetsburg, and the couple had planned to be married in July.
