ENTERTAINS EMPLOYES
EAGLE GROVE—John Chapman (Sr.) entertained the employes of the Chapman Oil company, and their wives at a party Wednesday evening at Pixler’s café. The party was in the nature of a farewell to John Chapman, Jr., who is leaving soon for the army.

Flight Officer John O. Chapman, son of Mrs. Leon Coggins, 312 Fourteenth street N. W., recently arrived at Rosecrans Field, a base of the ferrying division, air transport command, near St. Joseph, Mo., for advanced pilot training. He was born at Clarion, was graduated from Clarion high school and was manager of the Chapman Oil company at Eagle Grove until he entered the air corps. His wife lives at Eagle Grove.

John Oak Chapman, Jr. was born Jan. 26, 1917 to John Oak (Sr.) and Myrtle Ruth Brunton Chapman. He died Aug. 6, 1981 and is buried in Saint Francis Cemetery, Belmond, IA.
John served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Flight Officer with the 1305th Base Unit, India-China Division Air Transport Command. He was awarded the Air Medal.
