Sibley, Iowa—Francis M. Case, former Melvin youth, who was reported missing in action more than a year ago in the battle of Bataan in the Philippines, is alive and well and is held a prisoner of war by the Japs on the Philippine islands, according to a message received by his sister, Mrs. Henry Brandt of Melvin.

Francis Mark Case was born June 23, 1916 to Mark and Julia A. McGrew Case. He died May 11, 1942 and is memorialized in Rose Hill Cemetery, Manson, IA. He is buried at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Philippines.
Pvt. Case served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and died as a POW at Camp O’Donnell, Luzon, Philippine Islands.
