Donald Denham Caruth was born July 12, 1921 to Charles Edward and Frances Elizabeth Hawks Caruth. He died Jan. 12, 2006 and is buried in Westview Cemetery, Prairie City, IA.

Pvt. Caruth served with the U.S. Army in World War II in Okinawa.

Donald Caruth, age 84, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the Abington in Ames. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Abington in Ames. Burial was at the Westview Cemetery in Prairie City, Iowa. Becker Funeral Home in Jewell was entrusted with arrangements.

Donald Denham Caruth was born on the family farm north of Ellsworth on July 12, 1921 to Charles Edward and Frances Elizabeth (Hawks) Caruth. He grew up in Ellsworth, graduating from Ellsworth High School in 1939. Don served in the U.S. Army on Okinawa. On February 24, 1949 Don married Jeanetta Beyer in Prairie City. They farmed near Ellsworth. Don studied to be a machinist in Fort Dodge. He worked at Modern Farm Systems in Webster City and Allen Machine Co. in Ames and Nevada. He retired in 1990 following a stroke.

Don is survived by his son, Creig (Helen) of Nevada; a daughter, Nancy (Manhood) Naim of Salt Point, New York; grandchildren, Cleiton, Christian, Tawnya, Donyel, Nadia, Nyla and Nikki; a brother, Wallace Cruth of Coal Valley, Illinois; and two sisters, Roberta Mather of Humboldt and Mary Bea Tolstrup of Webster City.
