Donald Eugene Carlson was born Mar. 19, 1926 to Roy Gilbert and Maude M. Bergman Carlson. He died June 29, 2013 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Stratford, IA.
Donald served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Donald Eugene Carlson, 87, formerly of Boone and Ogden, Iowa passed away at the Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa on Saturday morning, June 29, 2013 where he had been a resident since December of 2008.
He was born on March 19, 1926 in Stratford, Iowa the son of Roy and Maude (Bergman) Carlson.
On September 7, 1946, he married Maxine Marie Martin at Webster City, Iowa.
Don was a graduate of Stratford High School and served in the Navy. Don and Maxine owned the Ridgeport Locker from 1958 until 1976 and farmed in the Ridgeport area during that time.
After living in Boone for 2 years, they moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa in 1978, where Don served as a meat inspector for the State of Iowa. The couple returned to the Boone area in 1987 and later lived in Ogden, Iowa from 2000 until 2008 before moving to the Westhaven Community. Don enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of the VFW in Boone, the Mineral Ridge Baptist Church until its closing and a former member of the American Legion.
His parents, wife Maxine Marie Carlson in March of 2010, and a brother Dean Carlson in October 2004 preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughter; Linda Bancroft and husband Steve of Springfield, Illinois and their children Jil (Kyle) Nelson of Pella, Iowa; Julie (Doug) Hill of Springfield, Illinois; daughter Laura Wellner and husband Steve of Chamberlain, South Dakota and their children Leah Core of Denver, Colorado, Chad (Susan) Core of Ankeny, Iowa, and Danny Blom and Lance Blom both of Denver, Colorado; daughter Donna Hilton of Boone, Iowa and her children Nicole (Jeremy) Huston of Boone and Nathan (Alyssa) Hilton of Waukee, Iowa; and daughter Valerie Evans and her husband Craig of Boone, Iowa and their children Travis Reinhart (Kristy Harris) of Ames, Iowa, Alyssa Reinhart (Regis Racine) of Boone, Iowa, Jennifer (Chuck) Charamti of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Justin (Celeste) Evans of Nevada, Iowa; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother Bob Carlson and wife Pat of Gowrie, Iowa.
Services will be held Wednesday morning, July 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Baptist Church in Stratford, Iowa with Pastor Bruce Thomas officiating.
Internment with presentation of the flag with military honors conducted by the Boone Veterans Council of Boone will be in the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford.
Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday evening, July 2nd, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitations will continue on Wednesday morning at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
