Sgt. Charles E. Callery of this city has received two battle stars for his campaign ribbons, according to word received here by his wife and his aunt, Miss Anna Ely, from the Webster City soldier who is located in Italy. Callery, with an engineering headquarters company, sent a V-mail Easter greeting letter.

Charles E. Callery, 71, former Webster City resident, died Tuesday at the Boone County hospital.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Schroeder Funeral home with burial in Graceland cemetery at Webster City at 3 p.m.
Charles E. Callery, son of Edward and Laura Ely Callery, was born July 12, 1910 at Duncombe, Iowa, and he was reared and educated in the Webster City area. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Callery was retired but formerly worked as a general foreman for the Weitz Construction Co.
He was married to Betty Booth Feb. 20, 1954 at Cedar Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; one brother, Warren Callery of Marshalltown; one sister, Lauretta Evans of Des Moines, five nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He was a member of Laborers International Local 177; Union of North America and the American Legion Post 191 of Webster City.
