Owen Russell Beede was born Oct. 2, 1919 to Alonzo H. and Jessie Ruth McNeil Beede. He died Mar. 6, 1945 and is buried in Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton, IA. He was initially buried in the 3rd Marine Division Cemetery on Iwo Jima and returned to the U.S. in 1948.
Lt. Beede served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division and was KIA in combat operations on Iowa Jima.
