A coast guard manned LST, one of the first ships to land occupation forces in Japan, put these Iowa navy men and their detachment ashore in Tokyo Bay. The men are sitting in the Yokosuka Express troop truck, one of a number landed from the LST and used to take the detachment and supplies to the Yokosuka airport, near Tokyo, which the unit occupied three days prior to Japan’s formal surrender.
