Russell Fred Byerley was born Apr. 30, 1920 to Fred Warren and Mary Harriet Newton Byerley. He died Feb. 19, 1944 and is buried in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton, IA.
Pvt. Byerley served in World War II with the U.S. Army 106th Infantry and died of wounds received in action on Eniwetol Island, Marshall Group.
