Robert David Buckley was born Jan. 11, 1924 to Robert L. and Adelaide I. Buckley. He died Dec. 23, 1944 and is buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Lorraine, France and has a cenotaph in Glenwood Cemetery, Boone, IA.
Sgt. Buckley served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II as a tail gunner on a B-26 with the 574th Bomb Squadron, 391st Bomb Group (M) and was shot down over Ahrweiler, Germany.
