Wilbur Dean ‘Dean’ Buckles was born Apr. 10, 1919 to Aaron and Maude Bateman Buckles. He died Feb. 18, 1979 and is buried in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Sgt. Buckles served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Buckles Rites Held in D.M.

Funeral services for W. Dean Buckles, 59, were held Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Dahlstrom Funeral home in Des Moines with interment at the Glendale cemetery in Des Moines.

Mr. Buckles died Sunday, Feb. 18 at Mercy hospital in Des Moines following a lengthy illness.

The son of Aaron and Maude Buckles, Dean Buckles was born April 19, 1919 in Webster City and was graduated from Lincoln high school.

Mr. Buckles was in the armed services, and served overseas in the Asian area.

He had lived in Des Moines the past 17 years where he had worked for the Gifford Construction Co.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; one son, Jay; his mother, Maude Buckles of Webster City; two sisters, Phyllis McKinney and Arline Simpson, both of Webster City, and a brother, Richard of Boone. Also surviving are a step-brother, Aubrey of Western Springs, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.
