Spencer, Iowa – Spencer friends have learned that G.A. (Al) Beardshear, pre-glider school instructor, was killed recently in a plane crash at Vernon, Texas. He was the first instructor to come to Spencer when the pre-glider school was located here last summer and he stayed the entire six months of the school. No details of the fatal crash are known except that a fellow instructor has written, “He could have avoided death but crashed in a successful attempt to save the life of his students.” The body was taken to the home of his parents at Spearfish, S.D. for funeral services and burial.
