William Henry Atlee was born Oct. 20, 1914 to John C. and Marjorie Atlee. He died June 6, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France and memorialized in Elmwood Cemetery, Fort Madison, IA.
Sgt. Atlee served in World War II with the U.S. Army 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division and was KIA in France and awarded the Purple Heart.
