Mahlon B. “Buster” Angstead was born Dec. 12, 1924 to Ira Franklin and Sarah Lou Edna Shupe Angstead. He died Mar. 16, 1945 and is buried in Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, IA.
Pvt. Angstead served in World War II with the U.S. Army 346th Infantry, 87th Division and was KIA in Hamburg, Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
