Alta, Ia.—Flight Officer Virgil Anderson, son of Mrs. Margaret Anderson, has been reported missing in action over Belgium on December 27. In September Virgil received the presidential unit citation and the air medal for his work in piloting C-47 carried transport with the Ninth air force. Virgil is a graduate of the Alta high school with the Class of 1941. His wife is a resident of Storm Lake.

Virgil Wendell Anderson was born Mar. 19, 1923 to Johannes P. and Margaret Stella Hanson Anderson. He died Dec. 27. 1944 and is buried in Elk Cemetery, Alta, IA.
Flight Officer Anderson served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was KIA aboard C-47A Skytrain #42-100906 in Belgium.
