Leon E. Anderson was born Aug. 13, 1920 to Samuel Edward and Elva May Gardner Anderson. He died Nov. 18, 1944 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Anita, IA.
Pvt. Anderson served in World War II with the U.S. Army 378th Infantry, 5th Infantry Division and was KIA in France. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart.
