Pfc. Donald Winter returned to Louisville, Kentucky, Saturday after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Winter, of Hinton.

Francis Donald “Donald” Winter was born Sept. 19, 1922 to Francis Dietrich and Lydia Jensen Winter. He died Dec. 13, 1986 in Cincinnati, OH.
Dr. Winter served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps Medical Detachment and later as a physician in the U.S. Air Force as director of laboratories, 5005th USAF Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. He was director of pathology and nuclear medicine at Memorial Hospital, Burlington, IA, from 1951 to 1975.
