SERVICEMEN
Hull:
Seaman First Class Wilbur Wegter, who is in the Navy, rescued a Chinese Air Cadet who was on his way to this country for further training. The Chinese fell overboard and was soon left behind. Seaman Wegter, who was helmsman at the time, turned the ship about and steered close enough to the drowning man so that a lifeboat could rescue him. The Captain of the ship and other officers signaled out Seaman Wegter for special commendation.
