Capt. Ralph H. Wandrey

 

 

MASON CITY CAPTAIN IS NOW AT REDISTRIBUTION CENTER, MIAMI BEACH

Capt. Ralph H. Wandrey has arrived at army air forces redistribution station No. 2 in Miami Beach for reassignment processing after completing a tour of duty outside the continental United States, according to information received from the public relations office at Miami Beach.

Captain Wandrey, a P-38 and P-47 pilot and operations officer, flew 191 missions during 20 months in New Guinea. Winner of the distinguished flying cross, with one oak leaf cluster, the air medal with 3 clusters, and a presidential unit citation, the young pilot shot down at least 6 enemy planes, and probably 3 more.

He is the son of Henry E. Wandrey, 408 6th St., S.E. His wife is Verla Wandrey.
