Orange City—Corporal Marion VanderLaan of Orange City recently was assigned to a photographic squadron at an aerial reconnaissance station in England, Maj. Gen. James H. Doolittle, commanding general of the United States army Eighth air force, has disclosed. Corporal VanderLaan, a photo laboratory technician, is the husband of Dorthena VanderLaan, and a son of John VanderLaan, both of Orange City. He was employed as an automobile mechanic, before he entered the Army on November 3, 1942. He was graduated from the Maurice public high school.
