Harold H. Rath, C. S. M. Arm. Gd. Center, Treasure Island, San Francisco, was promoted to Chief Signalman.  He now wears a pretty officer’s uniform and enjoys his new duties.

Harold H. Rath was born Feb. 7, 1921 to Frank and Sophie Boehm Rath. He died July 19, 1921 and is buried in Saint Josephs Cemetery, Somers, NY. Chief Petty Officer Rath served with the U.S. Navy, proudly joining the day after his 18th birthday. He served in WWII from 1939 to 1945, aboard the battleships Colorado, President Hoover and Liberty Convoy in the north and South Pacific, Atlantic, and Mediterranean as Armed Guard. As CPO (Signalman) he spent six months in Pearl Harbor but was shipped out for dry dock repairs just days before the Dec. 7th attack.
