30 Former 4-H Club Boys Are Now
With the Armed Services


Thirty former 4-H club boys of west Pottawattamie county are now service in the armed forces according to a report completed by the Hazel Delphmiums 4-H girls club. The list of boys includes . . . . Roy Napier. . . . from Hardin-Garner townships.

Two Local Boys Are Commissioned

Two local boys have completed their training at the army advanced flying school at Williams field, Calif. (sic), have been commissioned second lieutenants, it was announced at the field.

Roy H. Napier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe N. Napier, 308 Harrison streets, is a graduate of Abraham Lincoln high school.

Russell A Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie M. Ward of Boise, Idaho, lived in Council Bluffs before entering the service. He is a graduate of Iowa State College.

HOME ON LEAVE

2nd Lt. Roy H. Napier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe N. Napier, 308 Harrison street, following his graduation as a pilot at Williams field, Ariz., spent a short leave at home and has left for Marana, Ariz., air field, near Tucson, where he will be stationed as an instructor.

Receive Word of Death of Son

Mr. and Mrs. Joe N. Napier, 308 Harrison street, have received word that their son, 2nd Lt. Roy H. Napier, a pursuit pilot, was killed in a plane crash in Belgium on Jan. 3.

Lt. Napier was graduated from Abraham Lincoln high school in 1942 and attended Iowa State college at Ames for a short time before he was called to the army. He had been in the army 23 months and had been overseas since November.
