James Muecke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Muecke, and a grandson of Mrs. Anna Muecke, of LeMars, enlisted in the marines five months ago. The picture shows two sharp shooting award badges. He had planned to come home on furlough but received a call for duty.

Mrs. Anna Muecke has received word that her grandson, Jim Muecke, has been promoted to a sergeant in the Marine Corps, somewhere in the south Pacific theater.

James Edward “Jim” Muecke was born Dec. 25, 1924 to Frank and Mildred Taylor Muecke. He died in 1995 and is buried in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Trenton, MO.
