Lloyd William Mook was born 9 May 1922, at Merrill, Iowa, to Roy and Frances Clara (Frangenberg) Mook. Siblings are Evelyn Lucille, Harold Leroy, Betty Lou, Dewayne Edward, James Dean, and Patty Jane. The family moved to Salix about 1932, where he graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1940.

Lloyd enlisted 8 December 1941, at Sioux City. My best friend, Robert Irish, was killed at Pearl Harbor. I was stationed at Corpus Christi, Texas; Wake Island, and Kanoe Bay, Hawaiian Islands. I was with Squadron 18A and served convoy duty on submarine patrol. I was discharged from Minneapolis, Minnesota, in December 1945, as a Radioman 2nd Class.

I enjoy fishing and baseball. I married Dorothy Jane Vaiana, 26 January 1946, Kansas City, Missouri. She died 8 August 1981, in Kansas City. We had two children, Cynthia Atwell and David G. Mook.

I married again, in 1982, to Regina Steffey Roberts, in Kansas City. Regina was born 14 June 1927, and died 26 December 2000, at Independence, Missouri.

I took an accounting course at Rockhurst College, Kansas City, and worked as a bookkeeper in the area. In 1958, and for 40 years, I was owner of the Cy Young Hardware store in Grandview, Missouri. I retired in 1995.

I earned my pilots license in 1973. Also obtained my Real Estate Appraisers License after I retired. I enjoy working with that.
