Pvt. John Mead Killed in Action
Pvt. John Mead, 23, former Council Bluffs resident and son of Col. and Mrs. Wallace A. Mead, was killed in action in Germany March 26, according to word received here Thursday by Thomas A. Belford.
Mead’s father, in charge of R. O. T. C. units in Council Bluffs and Omaha schools from 1934 to 1939, is now a prisoner of the Japanese government, presumably in Formosa. He was captured with the fall of Bataan.
Pvt. Mead was graduated from St. Francis high school.
He is survived by his father; his mother and sister, Betty, living in San Francisco.
