S/Sgt. Ray W. Magin

 

RETURN BODY OF SGT R. MAGIN; KILLED OVERSEAS

Funeral services for Staff Sergt. Ray W. Magin, who was killed in action over Germany July 28, 1943, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Runge chapel followed by burial in Oakdale cemetery. The body will arrive in Davenport at 10 p.m. Monday and will be taken directly to Runge's. The Rev. John Orberg of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Orion, will officiate at the funeral rites.

Born April 19, 1921 in Keokuk, Sergt. Magin lived in Wheatland until entering service Sept. 9, 1942. He served with the 380th bomb squadron of the Eighth Air Force. He married Lola Anderson in Wheatland in 1941. He was a member of F. W. Galbraith post No. 828, Veteran of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his former wife who has now remarried, Mrs. Lola Peron of Wheatland; his step-father and his mother, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Moore of Davenport; a sister, Mrs. Rose Rehan, Deavenport, and a half-brother, Dennis Moore of Bettendorf.
