RECLAIMS OLD BOMBER
A 9th AIR FORCE COMMAND UNIT, EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS – The engine of a wrecked U. S. Marauder is salvaged by T. Sgt. Charles H. Wilkens, Port Arthur, Tex., (left) and Sgt. Ernest D. Lewis, Council Bluffs (right). They are shown at the reclamation and salvage yard at a 9th air force service command unit in the European theater of operations. Sgt. Ernest D. Lewis, 27, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Lewis, 1016 Third avenue, Council Bluffs. The engine mechanic joined the air corps in June, 1942, and left for foreign service in 1943. He was formerly a crane operator in Council Bluffs.
