Former Waterloo Resident Killed

Sgt. David Lesher, Son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Lesher, Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Waterloo, was killed in action in Germany on Apr. 5.

Sergeant Lesher, whose father was formerly pastor of St. Luke’s church here, was serving with the Eighth air force and was stationed in England. He had been overseas since last January.

A graduate of Lincoln high school and Midland college, Fremont, Neb., he enlisted in the air corps three years ago. He was born in Waterloo.

Surviving besides his parents are a brother, Robert Lesher, serving in the navy in the Pacific, and a sister, Nancy, at home,

Sgt. David Martin Lesher was born Aug. 24, 1921 to Leland Hubert and Alice Louise Schmoldt Lesher. He died Apr. 5, 1945 and is buried in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA. He was initially buried in France and returned to the U.S. in 1948.
