KATES AT NAVAL BASE IN SOUTH
John William Kates, 520 South First street, is now on duty at the ship repair unit at the New Orleans naval repair base. Kates enlisted in the navy in December, 1943, and chose the ship repair unit branch of the navy. Prior to entering the service, Kates, who is an electrician’s mate 2/c, was employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone company, at Council Bluffs. His wife, Mrs. Hazel Kates, lives here.

John William Kates was born Apr. 29, 1909 to William and Ida Kates. He died in 1981 and is buried in Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, Mesa, AZ.
