Mapleton Men With the Armed Forces
Dale Jacobson expects to return to Portland, Maine, after enjoying a 15-day furlough here with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ira Jacobson. He is a radio man in the Navy. His brother, Pvt. Don Jacobson, is now stationed at Camp White, Medford, Oregon. Both wish to thank the Civic Club for the Christmas gifts they received.

NEWS OF OUR MEN and WOMEN IN UNIFORM
Donald Jacobson has been promoted to staff sergeant with the infantry and now receives his mail in care Postmaster, New York. He was transferred from Corvallis, Ore. He has been in the service 16 months and recently received the good conduct ribbon.

OUR NEIGHBORS IN THE SERVICES
Mapleton, Ia.—S. Sgt. Donald J. Jacobson, Mapleton, recently was awarded the bronze star for heroic achievement in action. Serving on the Fifth army front in Italy, he is a squad leader in the 361st infantry regiment of the 91st “Powder River” division. A carpenter in civilian life, Jacobson, now 29, entered service in October, 1942. His wife, Darlene, lives in Mapleton.

Donald Duane Jacobson was born Dec. 10, 1915 to Ira A. and Emma C. Christensen Jacobson. He died July 5, 1976 and is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton, IA.
