T/Sgt. Paul I. Ingalls

 

Receives Word of Death in Service

Tech. Sgt. Paul I. Ingalls, 23-year-old son of Mrs. Goldie Ingalls, 117 Field street, was killed in action Dec. 28 in the central Pacific area, the war department has informed his mother.

Sgt. Ingalls was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson high school in 1938. Leaving school, he studied photography, worked for some time at the Spicer Studio here, and then entered the army air corps in 1940.

He was an aerial photographer at the time of his death.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Clarence of McClelland, and Warren, at home; one sister, Mary Ellen, also at home.

RECEIVES PURPLE HEART

Mrs. Goldie Ingalls, 117 Field street Wednesday received from the war department the Purple Heart medal for her son, T. Sgt. Paul I. Ingalls, 24, who was killed in action Dec. 28. Sgt. Ingalls was an aerial photographer, and met his death while on a mission in the central Pacific area. He had been in the army 2 ½ years.

NOTE: Tech Sgt. Paul Ivin Ingalls was born in Council Bluffs April 3, 1919. There is a memorial stone in his honor at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Council Bluffs. ~ findagrave.com
