Merrill, Iowa- Word has been received that Bevan G. Holmberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Holmberg has arrived at Cochran army field, Macon, Georgia. From there he later will be sent to an advanced school in the southeastern training center for courses in pursuit and bombardment.

SOLDIER NEWS:
Aviation Cadet Bevan G. Holmberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Holmberg of Merrill, who is at the army air forces advanced flying school at Moody Field, Georgia, was recently commissioned a second lieutenant with the rating of army pilot.

Bevan Holmberg, 2nd Lt., AAC, S. A. B., Smyrna, Tenn., made a surprise visit home recently. He piloted a B-24 to Sioux City on a cross country flight and visited his parents, the Ed Holmbergs, for a few hours.

Merrill, Iowa—Lt. Bevan G. Holmberg, who has completed B-2 training at the Grand Island, Nebr. army airfield, has left for overseas service. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holmberg. His wife and two children will live in St. Paul during his absence.

Bevan Garth Holmberg was born Mar. 1, 1920 to Edward E. and Clementine Tryon Holmberg. He died Sept. 27, 2009 and is buried in Calvary Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum, Dallas, TX.
